Kemar Roofe has been included in a ten-player shortlist for UEFA’s goal of the season award.

The Rangers forward’s wonder strike from the halfway line against Standard Liege in the Europa League has been included alongside Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick’s strike against Scotland at Euro 2020.

Roofe won the ball in his own half and beat three players before hitting a sensational long-range effort against the Belgian side in October.

After the game, a 2-0 victory for the Gers, Steven Gerrard said the goal was the best he had ever seen live.

Schick’s lob from the halfway line left David Marshall stranded to put the Czech’s 2-0 up at Hampden in the opening game of the championships.

EPL stars Paul Pogba and Dele Alli also make the shortlist.

Alli scored Tottenham Hotspurs’ opening goal against Wolfsburg in the Champions League with a spectacular overhead kick.

And Manchester United midfielder Pogba netted one of the goals of Euro 2020 for France against Switzerland when he picked the ball up 25 yards out and curled a stunning effort into the top corner.

The European Championships also provided Lorenzo Insigne’s strike for Italy against Belgium.

Mehdi Taremi’s overhead kick for Porto against Chelsea and Paulinho’s finish for Braga against Leicester are also on the shortlist.

Florian Wirtz’s first-minute effort for Germany Under-21s against Holland, Sarah Zadrazil’s thunderbolt for Bayern Munich against Chelsea in the Women’s Champions League semi-finals and Ferrao’s Futsal goal for Barcelona against Dobovec complete the shortlist.
