Rangers have sold midfielder Juninho Bacuna to English Championship side Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee.

Bacuna leaves Ibrox after just six months, having failed to make an impression at the club.

The Dutch-born Curacao international joined Steven Gerrard’s side in August of last year but found it hard to break into the first team. He made 12 appearances in total but played a full 90 minutes on only two occasions.

Bacuna’s only goal for Rangers came in a 4-2 win over Ross County in November.

The 24-year-old told Birmingham City’s website he was delighted to be making the move.

“It is nice to be here, [I am] excited to get going,” he said.

“I have got the opportunity to play games and show my abilities – Birmingham is a nice city. It is a big club and I am really excited to be here.

“The most important thing is to build something with the team and the Club. I have got three-and-a-half years to do it, I am going to do everything to make it an incredible time.”

Meanwhile, Rangers are making moves in the transfer market to bring a new face into Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad.

The club are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester United winger Amad Diallo on loan until the end of the season.
