Hearts have completed the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Alex Cochrane on a season-long loan.

Cochrane becomes the latest part of of Hearts boss Robbie Neilson’s squad revamp ahead of their return the Premeirship.

The 21-year-old spent most of last season at Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise but is part of Brighton’s future plans. Cochrane has recently signed a contract extension with the Seagulls.

Neilson told the club’s website: “I’m delighted to get the deal done for Alex to join us for the season ahead.

“He’s a very highly-rated player with a good pedigree, so I’m looking forward to working with him.

“He will provide competition in the left side of defence, and his arrival also gives us the flexibility to change formation should we need to.”
