Scotland have lost 1-0 to Portugal in a qualifier for the Women’s European Championships.
Shelley Kerr’s side are four points behind group-leaders Finland and Friday night’s opponents who are in second place on goal-difference.
Scotland remain in third after the game with three matches to go.
Kerr will be disappointed to come away from the game empty handed with her side having most of the possession and chances in Lisbon.
But a goal by Ana Borges with 20 minutes to go was enough to win the game for the hosts.
Erin Cuthbert and Martha Thomas had late chances to equalise but they were denied by Portugal keeper Patricia Morais.
Scotland now face and uphill task in their bid to emulate the men’s side by reaching the tournament that will take place in England in 2022.
