Rangers have made a deadline day move to sign Burnley forward Matej Vydra, STV can reveal.

The 27-year-old, who has won 26 caps for the Czech Republic, has found game time limited at The Clarets this season, making just nine appearances.

STV has learned the Ibrox club are hopeful of securing the player on a six-month loan deal.

Rangers had made an enquiry about Hibernian forward Florian Kamberi while Lyndon Dykes is also on a list of potential signings, but we’ve learned Vydra is Rangers’ preferred option.

Attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi completed his loan move from Genk until the end of the season, with the Ibrox club having the option to buy the 21-year-old.

STV understands Steven Gerrard could yet make a move for another player in the final hours of the transfer window, should the right one become available.
