Rangers have increased their lead at the top of the Premiership to 18 points after a 1-0 win at Livingston.

A late Alfredo Morelos goal was enough to take the full three points back to Ibrox after a hard fought game at Almondvale.

Steven Gerrard had to watch the second half from the stands after he was sent off at the end of the first.

The Rangers manager was shown two yellow cards after remonstrating with referee John Beaton over his decision to book Morelos for a dive in the box.

The Ibrox side can now potentially be named champions this weekend if they beat St Mirren and Dundee United beat second placed Celtic.

Meanwhile at the bottom of the table St Johnstone scored a late equaliser to claim a 1-1 draw away to Hamilton.

Hamilton stay bottom of the league on goal difference as a result, on equal points with KIlmarnock and one behind tenth placed Ross County.

League cup champions St Johnstone stay in eighth place.
