The Scottish Professional Football League has announced the key dates for next season, with the winter break returning to its traditional time in January.

This season’s break has just ended after it was moved to accommodate the World Cup in Qatar but the league has confirmed that in the 2023/24 season it will start in early January.

Clubs will be in action from mid-July with the group stage of the Viaplay Cup but the league season will begin a week later than it did this year.

The cinch Premiership, Championship, League 1 and League 2 will all kick off on the weekend of August 5/6.

Following consultation with clubs, the Premiership will take a two weekend winter break following fixture round 22 on Tuesday January 2.

The top flight splits into the top and bottom six after round 33 on April 13/14 and the Premiership finishes on May 18/19 with the play-off final taking place the following weekend.

The Viaplay Cup final will return to a pre-Christmas slot, having been delayed until February this season. The final will be played on December 17, 2023.

SPFL Trust Trophy dates will be confirmed in due course while fixtures for the 2023/24 league season will be published towards the end of June.
