Long-serving St Johnstone striker Chris Kane has joined cinch Championship strugglers Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old, who has spent his entire career with the Perth club, has made just 17 appearances in the last two years after being plagued by injuries.

With Saints boss Craig Levein having signed forwards Adama Sidibeh and Benjamin Kimpioka in January, Kane – who has not featured since the draw at Livingston on December 27 – has been left as an unused substitute for the last three matches.

Relegation-threatened Dunfermline, who have not won in their last eight games, have moved to recruit the experienced attacker on loan after failing to score in their last three.

After making just two appearances last term, Kane was given a half-season contract by Saints last summer and then had it extended in December until the end of the current campaign.

It remains to be seen if Kane, who played in both finals when Saints won the League Cup and Scottish Cup in 2021, has kicked his last ball for a team in which he has made 244 appearances since his debut in November 2013.
