Dundee United have confirmed that veteran defender Charlie Mulgrew has left the club on the day of their Championship opener.
The 37-year-old former Scotland international signed for the Tannadice club in 2021 and made 75 appearances in all competitions during his two-year spell there.
He played 19 Premiership games last season as United were relegated to the Championship after finishing 12th in the league.
Mulgrew, who spent most of his career at Celtic, has also played for Aberdeen and had spells at a string of English clubs including Blackburn and Wolves.
In a statement released on Friday, Dundee United confirmed the departure and said: “We thank Charlie for his efforts in tangerine and wish him the best for the future.”
The Tayside club open their Championship campaign against Arbroath at Gayfield on Friday night.
