Dundee forward Jason Cummings has been sent home from training and will be disciplined for attending a live event without permission.

As football clubs work to reduce the risk of Covid amid rising case number, Cummings attended the Open Goal live show at Glasgow’s Hydro on Thursday night.

When Dundee became aware on Friday morning the striker was sent home immediately and dropped from the squad to face Hearts on Saturday. The former Hibs, Nottingham Forest and Rangers player will now face a disciplinary process.

Dundee are already short of numbers with some key players out injured.

Manager James McPake revealed ahead of the Hearts game that they were braced for further absences after a player was identified as a Covid close contact but a PCR test has now come back as negative.

Dundee are currently in 10th place in the Premiership table and face Hearts, Aberdeen and Livingston before the derby against United on January 2.
