The Scottish Cup clash between Dumbarton and Rangers will take place as planned after the pitch passed an inspection.

The pitch inspection took place at The Rock on Saturday afternoon ahead of the 5.30pm kick-off.

And officials have decided the match could go ahead.

It will be Rangers’ first competitive match in two weeks following the Premiership’s winter break as they look to continue their quest for a potential domestic treble.

They have already won the League Cup and currently sit eight points behind Celtic in the top flight, but have two games in hand.

They return to league action on Wednesday with a game against Hibernian at Easter Road when they will have the chance to cut the gap to five points.

Fourth tier Dumbarton, who are hoping to produce a major cup shock on Saturday, currently sit in fourth place of League Two.

Dunfermline’s game against Queen’s Park in the Championship has been called off as has Stirling Albion vs Hamilton in League One after inspections earlier on Saturday morning.

Brora Rangers’ home game against Cove Rangers in the Scottish Cup was called off on Friday and will now be played on Tuesday after heavy snow put paid to the match going ahead on Saturday.

A pitch inspection also took place in Inverness ahead of their game against Broomhill and officials decided the game could go ahead.

Inverness manager Duncan Ferguson joined fans in clearing snow off the Caledonian Stadium pitch on Friday ahead of Saturday morning’s inspection.

Likewise Bonnyrigg Rose vs Falkirk will also go ahead after officials decided the pitch was playable.

Forfar’s pitch has cleared of snow ahead of the visit of Hibernian and the club thanked supporters for the “Herculean effort” of those who turned up to clear the terracing on Friday.

The draw for the fifth round will take place on Sunday after the Celtic vs Buckie Thistle game in Parkhead.
