The daughter of former Celtic legend Murdo Macleod has revealed her father is in recovery following heart surgery.
Mhairi Fulton took to social media to address “rumours” regarding the welfare of the former Celtic and Scotland midfielder.
She revealed that the 63-year-old successfully had a heart valve replaced, a routine procedure linked to a previous heart surgery in 2010, and is in recovery.
Commenting on Twitter, she said: “Just to stop any rumours flying about.
“My dad has had a heart valve replaced, which is routine 10-15 years after the initial operation.
“His operation went well and he is currently in recovery.”
Murdo earned a legend status after starring as an attacking midfielder for Celtic in the 1980s.
He then went on to play for German giants Borussia Dortmund, Dumbarton, Hibs and Partick Thistle all while earning 20 Scotland caps.
In 2010, Macleod was rushed to hospital in Glasgow for an emergency operation and spent a week on a life-support machine.
