Celtic’s Champions League opponents RB Leipzig have sacked manager Domenico Tedesco following poor results.
The Bundesliga side have had a poor start to the season and matters came to a head after a surprise 4-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the opening Champions League group stage game.
That heavy loss, which included two goals from former Celtic winger Maryan Shved, came just days after Leipzig had been beaten 4-0 by Eintracht Frankfurt in the league.
The club currently sit 11th in the Bundesliga after five matches.
RB Leipzig announced on Wednesday morning that they had parted company with Tedesco and his coaches Marx Urwantschky and former Celtic defender Andreas Hinkel.
Tedesco had replaced Jesse Marsch in December of last year and oversaw a run to the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they were beaten 3-2 on aggregate by Rangers.
The team also finished fourth in the league and won the DFB-Pokal Cup.
Leipzig say they will announce a successor in due course but will want a quick appointment with key league and European games coming up.
The German side play Borussia Dortmund on Saturday before travelling to play Real Madrid at the Bernabeu next week.
They play Celtic on October 5 in Germany, with the return game at Celtic Park on October 11.
