Celtic ease into fifth round of Scottish Cup with win over Greenock Morton

Celtic are the first team through to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after a 5-0 win over Greenock Morton.

The Hoops took the lead with the help of VAR when a penalty was awarded against Efe Ambrose for an apparent handball in the box.

The former Celtic defender’s arms were by his side when the ball deflected and struck his hand in another decision that will add to the confusion surrounding the current handball rule.

Aaron Mooy stepped up to make it 1-0 and it was one-way traffic from then on as the Scottish champions killed the game off before half-time.

A David Turnbull striker to make it 3-0 was sandwiched by a double from top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi who scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season.

Four goals ahead at the break, Ange Postecoglou decided he could rest Kyogo and captain Callum McGregor as he put on Sead Haksabanovic and new signing Tomoki Iwata for his debut.

Mooy then scored again in the second-half as the former St Mirren man made it 5-0 with his fourth of the season.

Despite being without Cameron Carter-Vickers Celtic managed to record their fourth clean sheet in a row against the Championship side who are now six games without a win.

The fifth round ties are due to be played on the weekend of Saturday, February 11.
