Celtic have dropped points in the Premiership title race with a 0-0 draw with St Mirren in Paisley.

The Hoops are now six points behind leaders Rangers after a disappointing night in the rain at St Mirren Park.

Both teams started with depleted line-ups with the likes David Turnbull, Jota and James Forrest injured and cup final heroes Joe Hart and Kyogo also missing for the visitors.

Not one player on the St Mirren bench had played a first team game before the Wednesday night game with 17-year-old Kieran Offord making his debut from the start.

Teenage Celtic forward Owen Moffat also made his first start for Ange Postecoglou’s side with Scales, Bitton, Bain and Ralston also coming in to starting eleven.

St Mirren had a request to postpone the game over Covid issues rejected by the SPFL.

Elsewhere in the Premiership a Ryan Porteous goal was enough to earn all three points for Hibernian against Aberdeen at Easter Road as new manager Shaun Maloney got off to a winning start.

And at the bottom of the league a 2-1 victory for Ross County moved them four points clear of St Johnstone who remain in 12th place.

Just before kick-off it was announced that the Premiership winter break would be brought forward to begin on December 27.

The Celtic vs Rangers game due to be played at Celtic Park on January 2 will now be played a month later on Wednesday, February 2, with a kick-off time of 7.45pm.

The Edinburgh and Dundee derbies will now take place on February 1.
