Dundee United’s Calum Butcher has been called to account by the Scottish FA for a foul on Celtic’s David Turnbull and could face another suspension.
Butcher had just returned to United’s team from a previous ban when he tackled Turnbull during Celtic’s 3-0 win at Tannadice.
Match official Don Robertson showed Butcher a yellow card at the time, but the Scottish FA reviewed the incident and, after three former referees had watched footage and were unanimous that a red card offence had been missed, the compliance officer has taken action.
Butcher has been issued with a notice of complaint and charged with breaking the rules on serious foul play.
Having already been on the end of a ban this season, the player has not been offered a fixed ban and will face a disciplinary panel on December 9.
