Andy Murray has lost to world number 212 Ilya Marchenko in the final of the ATP Challenger event in Biella, Italy.
Murray had entered the tournament after missing the Australian Open after his bout of coronavirus and came through four rounds to reach Sunday’s final.
His run came to an abrupt end against 33-year-old Marchenko, who wrapped up victory in just under an hour and a half.
Murray was broken in his opening service game, and then again as Marchenko raced into a 4-1 lead before sealing the first set.
The Scot was then broken again in his first service game of the second set and, though he fought to turn the tide, Marchenko kept control and won without facing a single break point.
