Aberdeen have booked a place at Hampden for the League Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Partick Thistle at Pittodrie.

A flurry of first half goals secured Jim Goodwin’s side a place in the next round as they eased towards the win on Wednesday night

Luis Lopez and Hayden Coulson sandwiched a Kevin Holt own goal to put Jim Goodwin’s side 3-0 up at half time.

Darren Brownlie got one back for the Maryhill club at the start of the second half before Ryan Duncan ended any hope of a comeback with a fourth.

Lopez put Aberdeen 1-0 after 16 minutes of a first 45 that was all one-way traffic in favour of the Premiership club.

Holt’s own goal then doubled the deficit on the half-hour mark before Coulson’s strike put the game beyond the Jags before Brownlie’s second half consolation.

Duncan completed the scoring with five minutes remaining when he made it 4-1 less than ten minutes after coming off the bench.

The Dons now join Kilmarnock, Celtic and the winner of the Rangers vs Dundee game at Ibrox in the last four of the League Cup.

Kilmarnock beat Dundee United 2-1 on Tuesday before Celtic beat Motherwell 4-0 in Wednesday’s early kick-off.

Rangers kicked off their game against Dundee at 8.15pm and the draw for the semi-finals will take place following the final whistle of that game.
