Aberdeen striker Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes has thanked fans for their support after he was named as Premiership Player of the Month.
Duk was singled out as the best in the top flight after scoring twice against Hearts and then netting a backheel flick against Dundee United as the Dons enjoyed a resurgence under interim boss Barry Robson.
Those wins helped Aberdeen climb to fourth in the table and the goals took Duk’s tally for the season to 13 goals.
As he received his award, he thanked the fans for their backing and helping him to settle since coming in from Benfica’s B side.
“I am so pleased to have won this award. Since I arrived at the club, I have had fantastic support from the fans and have been able to go out and play my game and score goals,” he told Aberdeen’s website.
“When you get the backing that I do from the fans, it gives you a lot more confidence when you go onto the pitch and they help me do unbelievable things.
“I also have fantastic team-mates. It is like a family. There is great morale in the dressing room because we all support each other and this is the most important thing in football.”
