Scottish League Two title hopefuls Queen's Park dropped two points after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to 10-man strugglers Montrose.

Second-placed Queen's dominated the first half and did everything but score, with a John Carter header and Paul Woods shot both rattling the crossbar.

They had an even better opportunity when David Galt was brought down in the area by Andrew Steeves but Jordan Millar saved Woods' penalty and Carter put the rebound wide.

They were punished in the 42nd minute when Montrose took the lead with their first shot of the match as Gary Fraser's shot deflected past William Muir against the run of play.

Queen's needed just six minutes of the second half to pull level through Carter's right-foot shot and Montrose had Terry Masson sent off for a poor challenge on Woods three minutes later but they held on after Scott Gibson's header also struck the crossbar.
