Dundee United newboy Riku Riski says having first hand experience of the kind of football Mixu Paatelainen likes to play, was a big factor behind his move to Tannadice.

The 26-year old, who likes to play behind the striker, joined United on-loan until the end of the season from Norwegian club Rosenborg Ballklub and made his debut in the Scottish Cup win against Airdrie on Saturday.

He has previously played under Terrors boss Paatelainen at both international and club level and was keen to link up with him again.

Riski says their time together at Turun Palloseura, along with the Finnish national team, leaves him confident he will fit in at the club.

When asked about his move to Tayside he said: "He [Paatelainen] was a big factor for me personally. Knowing the gaffer and knowing him for years.

"We have a history, I've known him for a long time and I know the kind of football he likes to play so that makes me settling here much easier."

"There's always pressure on the player when he comes in the middle of the season, it's not an easy situation but I don't take so much pressure out of it.

"I don't take all the goalscoring pressure myself, we have great players, good strikers at this club, it's just about getting those first goals in and getting the confidence back up. I think it will go from there."
