Kilmarnock's promising youngster Greg Kiltie has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with the club.

The 18-year-old has been a key figure for Gary Locke's team this season, scoring twice in 22 appearances as the Ayrshire side aim to avoid the Premiership relegation play-off spot.

Hibernian had been keen on securing the player's services after he helped Scotland U19s reach this summer's UEFA Elite Round.

Kiltie's deal was set to expire at the end of this month but he will now remain at Rugby Park until 2018.

"I am happy that the gaffer made it clear that he wanted to keep me at the club," he said.

"He has given me my chance and has shown he believes in me by playing me in important games this season."

"I am absolutely delighted to have signed Greg, it has been a long process but it is great that one of the best young talents in the game has committed his future to Killie," manager Locke added.

"I hope Greg continues to improve and develop as a player and performs as well as he has done for us for far this season."
