We're barely into 2016 but for Scottish clubs there is no time to lose as each tries to strengthen their squad ahead of the challenges the new year will bring.

Defending champions Celtic are being linked with a move for Serbian defender Aleksandar Pantic after manager Ronny Deila made a trip to Spain to watch Eibar in action on Sunday.

Today's Daily Express also has the Hoops poised to make a move for South Korean forward Hyun-Jun Su, with the Vitoria Setubal star having caught the eye of the club's scouts.

Over at Rangers, Mark Warburton aims to strengthen his squad with a move for Accrington Stanley's Josh Windass and Matt Crooks. While both are out of contract in the summer and would potentially move to Ibrox for nothing at the end of the season, moves could be afoot to bring the duo north before then.

Rangers' Championship rivals Hibs are close to making their first signing of the window too, with Norwegian Under-23 international defender Niklas Gunnarsson in talks with the club.

And John Souttar might be on the move this year. The youngster is nearing the end of his current deal and hasn't agreed an extension with Dundee United, leaving him free to discuss his future with other clubs.
