STV News nominated for two RTS Journalism Awards

The STV News North team have been nominated for their coverage of Storm Babet while Colin MacKay has been nominated for Political Journalist of the Year.

STV News has been nominated for two RTS Journalism Awards for 2024.

The STV News North team and political editor Colin Mackay have been shortlisted for the prestigious awards, which will take place at a ceremony at the London Hilton on February 28 hosted by Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid.

STV News at Six in the North has earned the nod for Nations and Regions News for its dedicated coverage of Storm Babet which swept the country last year.

Journalists reported from the heart of communities in the north to provide informed and breaking news amid testing conditions.

Meanwhile Colin Mackay, STV’s political editor, has been nominated on a three-person shortlist for Political Journalist of the Year.

Reporting from Holyrood, Mackay presided over some of the biggest stories in Scottish politics including the Scottish National Party leadership election in 2023.

The awards ceremony aims to recognise achievements across the broadcast industry.
