A stag party have been crowed the winners of a competition that saw six Scottish football fans racing each other to the opening game of Euro 2024 by getting to Germany using only public transport.

Tennent’s called on Scotland’s “most dedicated fans” to get into three teams of two to take on a time-sensitive 1,200-mile race from Hampden to Munich, leaving on May 23.

Beating hundreds of applicants to take on the challenge, Aberdeen’s William Wallace joined daughter Beth Wallace, Tartan Army members Ewan Oman and Chris Gibson from Peterhead; and Paisley duo Euan McLelland and Paul Mullan – who signed up as part of Paul’s stag do.

The competitors headed to a separate checkpoint in Europe by ‘any means possible’ – the exception being they weren’t able to use air travel.

From Glasgow to Germany via London, Paris and Braga, the final leg of Get to Germany ended in a treasure hunt Munich’s English Garden – with Paul and Euan crowned the winners on Thursday.

They will now receive a prize package including flights and accommodation with the Scotland team for a future away game and a Scotland season pass for upcoming home games.

Other prizes included Stuart Armstrong’s hair gel, a Lyndon Dykes transferable tattoo, and a pair of John McGinn signed glasses.

Euan said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the race – it’s been an epic journey and such an amazing experience that we’ll remember forever.

“We’re so excited for this summer, and to have my stag do in Germany as Scotland takes on the Euros is just the cherry on top of the cake – truly the stag do of the century!”

Each step of the 1,200-mile challenge was captured for an online mini-series narrated by Love Island host Iain Stirling.

Hazel Alexander, Senior Brand Manager at Tennent’s said: “We couldn’t be happier for Paul and Euan – they are very worthy winners and absolutely deserve to enjoy a glorious summer of football and Tennent’s, and to give Euan the gift of such an epic stag do in Germany is fantastic.

“We’ve loved watching each episode of Tennent’s Get to Germany in the lead up to the Euros, and are so grateful for each of our three teams for giving their all to make it such great viewing.

“Now, come on Scotland!”
