A Scottish teenager has died following a quad bike crash while on holiday in Greece.

The 19-year-old, who has not yet been named, was killed following the incident involving an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on the island of Zakynthos when the bike veered off the road between the beach destinations of Alikanas and Gerakas at low speed.

He was taken to a local hospital at around 2.30am on Friday morning but later died, according to reports in Greek media.

A second man, also a British national and understood to be his co-passenger, sustained minor injuries.

Both are reported to have been wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Greece’s national police service, Hellenic Police, is investigating the death.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said they were supporting the teenager’s family.

They added: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.”

The Hellenic Police force has been contacted for comment.
