A second Scottish teaching union has announced plans to walk out in strike action amid a dispute over pay.

The Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association (SSTA) said 90% of its members had backed industrial action over the wage rise row.

Members are now to consider whether to strike on December 5 – just 11 days after the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) will also stage classroom walkouts.

On Wednesday, it was revealed all schools across Edinburgh and Glasgow would close on November 24 as part of the strike.

The SSTA said it would release updated guidance to members for that date.
