Scottish Highlands ranked as 'safest place to survive a zombie apocalypse or alien invasion'

From alien invasions to zombie outbreaks, Scotland has been ranked as the safest place to survive an apocalyptic event.

A new study revealed the best and worst places to survive the apocalypse in the UK, with five areas in Scotland making the top ten.

The Scottish Highlands take the top spot in the study, conducted by JeffBet, which compared regions across the UK to 13 different metrics including population density and survival resources.

The Scottish Highlands solidified its position as the prime choice for survival with a commendable score of 74.04 out of a potential 130 points.

Aside from the breathtaking scenery, one of its standout strengths lies in its low population density, a crucial factor in navigating post-apocalyptic challenges.

The abundance of wilderness and scenic trails are perfect for foraging and building remote shelters away from potential zombie virus carriers.

Another Scottish location safe from zombies and aliens is Argyll and Bute which took the second spot on the list and was closely followed by Orkney Islands.

Both of which off an abundance of foraging and shelter opportunities.

Those living further down the country need not worry as a number of Scottish regions have made the top ten safest places in the UK.

Earning the eighth position is Eilean Siar, comprising much of the Outer Hebrides and arguably one of the most remote areas in Britain.

With over 7,500 freshwater lochs scattered across the region, it’s hardly surprising that this area offers prime conditions for off-grid survival.

Stirling, claiming the ninth spot, is the first city on the list with a population of just 93,000.

What sets it apart is its access to crucial amenities like shops and medical centres, all without the overcrowding in bigger cities.
