Scot arrested abroad over death of Dutch crime writer

Christopher Hughes also accused over serious organised crime in Scotland.

A Scottish man has been arrested abroad in connection with the death of a Dutch crime writer.

Christopher Hughes, 30, was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant issued in February last year.

He was wanted in connection with the death of Martin Kok in the Netherlands in 2016.

Hughes has also been arrested in connection with being involved in serious organised crime in Scotland.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that a 30-year-old man has been arrested abroad on a European Arrest Warrant in connection with the death of Dutch national Martin Kok in the Netherlands in 2016.

“He has also been arrested in connection with being involved in serious organised crime in Scotland.”
