Humza Yousaf faces FMQs as more councils could defy council tax freeze

The First Minister could field questions over his plans for a national care service, the Government's proposed council tax freeze and the police's handling of Emma Caldwell's murder.

Humza Yousaf is answering FMQs as more local authorities could defy his plans for a nationwide council tax freeze.

The First Minister has labelled any levy increase “unjustifiable” following Argyll and Bute’s decision to raise rates by 10%.

Thursday could see Inverclyde follow suit as Labour councillors propose an 8% hike.

Yousaf will face FMQs at 12pm before a vote later in the chamber on the Scottish Government’s plans for a National Care Service.

The SNP leader could also face questions over Police Scotland’s handling of Emma Caldwell’s murder after her killer was convicted on Wednesday 18 years after she was found dead.
