In pictures: Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrated across Scotland

Street parties and community events are under way as festivities mark the monarch's 70-year reign.

People across Scotland are celebrating the Queen’s 70th year as monarch over a four-day Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

Festivities began on Thursday with a Royal gun salute at Edinburgh Castle followed by flaming beacons being lit around the country.

Street parties and community events are under way with the celebrations set to continue throughout the weekend which is expected to bring sun and soaring temperatures.

Thousands are expected to flock to the coast, attend street parties and have barbeques.

The weather forecast is good news for those planning any outdoor events with temperatures set to soar into the high teens and even above 20C.
