A grown-up ‘ice scream’ truck serving ghoulish treats is set to roll into Scotland in time for Halloween.
Created by Islay whisky company Ardbeg, the creepy ice cream truck will serve three ice cream treats with a whisky twist to customers in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The monstrous truck, which pays homage to classic B-movie beasts, was created by The Persuaders and took three months and 12 people to build.
Customers can indulge in sweet treats created in partnership with artisan ice cream parlour Ruby Violet, including Cookies and Scream, which features Ardbeg Wee Beastie ice cream sandwiched between charcoal cookies and coated in optional mealworms and a lapsang souchong ice cream titled Ahh! No! Bar, with an Ardbeg An Oa caramel centre and coated in white chocolate.
An ‘Ice Cream Groan’ rounds off the adult icy treats, with a charcoal cone filled with Arberg Ten smoky blackcurrant ice cream, topped with sour cherries and a shard of insect-flecked brittle.
Customers can purchase the adult ice creams from the creepy van and existing Ardbeg committee members can pick one up for free.
Visitors to the ice scream truck can also indulge in a range of whisky cocktails alongside their ice creams in the Monsters of Smoke cage, available to book for 45 minute slots on the Ardbeg website.
Colin Gordon, Ardbeg distillery manager, said: “Our ‘ice scream’ truck will be prowling the country this month, leaving smoky delights in its wake during the spookiest time of the year.
“I’d urge whisky lovers to beware though: Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a dram with quite a bite, so while it may be encased in ice cream, you’ll still need to be on your guard.
“The events are guaranteed to linger long in the nightmares of anyone who dares attend.”
The ice scream truck will visit Glasgow on October 29 at Drygate Brewery, St James Quarter in Edinburgh on October 30 and Castle Street in Edinburgh on October 31.
