Three children have been racially abused by a group of men in their sixties while on a train.

The kids, aged between 10 and 15, were on board a service from Carlisle to Dumfries at around 5.30pm on Saturday, October 14.

Four white men, all believed to be in their sixties, then racially abused them, British Transport Police said.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and released descriptions of the men.

The first is described as being about 5ft8 tall, with fair hair and a pink top.

The second had white hair and was wearing a red t-shirt and a blue jacket.

The third had white hair, a white moustache, and was wearing a white t-shirt and a light green jacket.

The fourth had white hair, and was wearing glasses, a flat cap, a blue jumper and a blue jacket.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who can provide information to help the investigation has been urged to contact British Transport Police by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016 with reference 700 of October 14, 2023.
