More than 100 speed cameras across Scotland will be turned off after the behaviours of drivers were improved.
On Monday, Safety Cameras Scotland revealed the sites where cameras were set to become inactive.
A total of 119 cameras will be covered up following a “comprehensive national performance review” in collaboration with 33 road authorities.
Over the past five years driver behaviour and speed limit compliance has improved due to camera enforcement, Safety Cameras Scotland found.
Across each of the sites there have been no speed or red light related injuries or collisions.
The camera infrastructure and signs will remain in place, but a bag will be placed over any fixed camera to show that it is not in use.
The road safety body said the pause allows for a thorough assessment over a three-year period, after which decisions will be made regarding potential decommissioning or reactivation of safety cameras.
Mark Patterson, Police Scotland road policing chief inspector, said: “Safety cameras are strategically deployed to maximise their impact on reducing injury collisions and fatalities on Scotland’s roads
“The positive results from the recent performance review underscore the effectiveness of our efforts.
“We commend drivers for their improved behaviour, which contributes to safer communities and roads.
As we continue to monitor these sites, Police Scotland Safety Cameras remains committed to fostering a culture of road safety and encourages ongoing compliance with speed limits.”
