Hardeep Singh Kohli has been charged in connection with alleged sex offences.
The broadcaster has faced several allegations of inappropriate behaviour in recent years.
Police Scotland said the 54-year-old had been arrested before being released. He is due to appear at court at a later date.
It comes after the force confirmed last month it was investigating allegations against Kohli. A spokesperson said a report had been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
The comedian has presented several shows for the BBC, was a contestant on 2018’s Celebrity Big Brother and was a runner-up in Celebrity MasterChef in 2016.
He has been a contributor to The One Show and has staged shows at Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offences.
“He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
“A report of the circumstances has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
