Rishi Sunak faces PMQs ahead of DUP deal on Stormont return

The legislation could see a return to power-sharing institutions at Stormont after two years.

Rishi Sunak faces PMQs as a deal with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to restore power sharing to Stormont is to be published.

The Government will set out a deal with the DUP that includes an agreement to end all post-Brexit checks on goods destined for Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK.

The deal will also set out the return of the Stormont power-sharing institutions after almost two years of being blocked by the Unionist party in protest at post-Brexit arrangements.

DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson announced a return to parliament was dependent on the UK Government implementing the various legislative assurances and other measures it has offered.

This legislation could be fast-tracked through parliament and could see Michelle O’Neill become Northern Ireland’s first ever nationalist First Minister.
