Boris Johnson will take a break from work while be continues his recovery after leaving hospital.
A Downing Street spokesman confirmed the prime minister was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
Several vehicles, including police vans, were seen leaving St Thomas’ Hospital shortly after the announcement.
Johnson had been at the central London hospital for seven days and was moved into intensive care on Monday.
A Number 10 spokesman said: “The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery, at Chequers.
“On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work.
“He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received.
“All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness.”
Dominc Raab has been filling in as acting PM in Johnson’s absence.
