Humza Yousaf faces FMQs after failed Lorna Slater no-confidence vote

The First Minister will take questions from MSPs inside Holyrood on Thursday afternoon.

Humza Yousaf is facing a grilling from MSPs for the first time since the Tories attempted to oust one of his ministers.

A motion of no-confidence against circular economy minister Lorna Slater was voted down 68-55 on Tuesday, with Labour and the Liberal Democrats backing the Conservative bid.

Opposition parties have accused the Green MSP of incompetence over Scotland’s deposit return scheme (DRS), which has been delayed multiple times.

Fergus Ewing was the only SNP MSP to vote for the motion, saying that businesses had lost faith in the minister.

Media reports following the vote suggested the veteran MSP – who has become increasingly critical of the Government – is due to have the party whip removed, meaning he would be forced to sit as an independent.
