Two cats were discovered with eye injuries in Angus, with a nut found inside one animal’s eye socket.

Police are appealing for information after the pair of cats were injured between April 29 and May 20 within the Latch Road and Provost Millar Avenue area of Brechin.

One of the affected animals had a hex nut lodged in its eye socket upon being treated by a vet, which could have been launched from a weapon similar to a catapult.

Constable Batard from Brechin Police Office said “When one of the cats was treated by a vet a hex nut was found in an eye socket suggesting that something similar to a catapult was used to injure the cats.

“I would appeal to anyone with information that can assist the enquiry to contact police on 101 quoting CR/197711/24.”
