Train services delayed after lightning hits equipment

Network Rail discovered the fault on Saturday morning and are sourcing a part to fix the issue.

A lightning strike has disrupted train services in Aberdeenshire.

On Saturday, Scotrail tweeted to say there was a fault with its signalling system in the Huntly area.

As a result, trains on the Aberdeen to Inverness line have been delayed.

Network Rail engineers found that a lightning strike had damaged some equipment in the area.

Scotrail has warned that trains will be disrupted for the next few hours while engineers source a new part to fix the issue.
