Scooter rider who died at scene following collision with car named

Police confirmed on Monday that 48-year-old Andrew Wilson died at the scene of the collision.

A scooter rider who died following a collision with a car in Aberdeenshire has been named.

The crash, which involved a white Honda PCX motor scooter and a white BMW X1 motor car, occurred around 1.10pm on Thursday on the A952 road near to Clola.

Emergency services attended the scene, however the rider of the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, he was named as 48-year-old Andrew Wilson, known as Andy.

The 69-year-old female driver of the BMW was uninjured following the crash.

The road was closed for around seven hours while investigations were carried out. 

Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley, of the North East Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Andy Wilson at this time. 

“Investigation into the collision is still ongoing and I would ask anyone who has not already spoken to police or anyone that has dashcam footage of the vehicles to contact Police Scotland on 101 or online quoting reference 1536 of November 9, 2023.”
