Divers scoured parts of the River Don in Aberdeenshire during a search for Hazel Nairn.

River Don search finds no sign of woman swept away during flooding Police Scotland

A search for a woman who has been missing since severe flooding hit Aberdeenshire last year has failed to find her body.

Hazel Nairn disappeared at the River Don near Monymusk in November while she was out with her dog.

The body of her pet was later found near the river but extensive searches failed to locate the 71-year-old.

At the weekend, specialist underwater teams used sonar technology to check parts of the water.

Beneath the Surface, a group of divers based in Lancashire, joined local divers for the search.

The volunteers looked at areas where Ms Nairn’s body could be trapped such as bends in the river which goes on for 31 miles from her last known location.

The teams will resume the search later this year.
