Probe into restaurant fire still ongoing two months on

More than 40 firefighters worked through the night to tackle the blaze in Aberdeen last December.

An investigation into a major fire that destroyed an Aberdeen restaurant is still ongoing more than 50 days later.

More than 40 firefighters worked through the night to tackle the blaze at Valentino’s – formerly Dizzy’s – in Carden Place during the early hours of December 23 last year.

The fire, which took hold of the two-storey premises that housed two other businesses, caused the roof to collapse.

Emergency crews eventually stood down on Christmas Eve, but were called back to the scene a further two times when the blaze started to flare up again.

There were no reports of any injuries.

On Wednesday, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed the probe had yet to be concluded almost two months on.

A SFRS spokeswoman said: “The investigation is still ongoing.”
