The family of Umar Khan has been informed after police made the discovery in Cove, Aberdeen.

Police have recovered a body in Aberdeen during the search for a missing man from England.

Officers confirmed the body was recovered from water in the Gregness area of Cove at around 12.30pm on Thursday, September 1.

Officers remain at the scene and formal identification is yet to take place.

However, police say the family of missing 24-year-old Umar Khan has been informed.

Mr Khan was last seen in the Cove area on Thursday, August 25.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 12.30pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022, the body of a man was found in the water in the Gregness area of Cove, Aberdeen.

“Formal identification has still to take place but the family of Umar Khan, 24, has been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
