A mother-of-two murdered in Elgin suffered a “violent attack”, police have said.
Kiesha Donaghy was found dead at a home on Anderson Drive at around 7.20pm on Thursday.
Detective superintendent Lorna Ferguson said the 32-year-old suffered major injuries to her head in the fatal assault.
Police Scotland said that there were 40 dedicated officers from the Major Crime Investigation squad and local departments involved in the murder investigation.
“Kiesha was a popular girl, loved by her friends and family,” DS Ferguson said.
“Lots of friends are clearly concerned and devastated by her death.”
Police said there was currently no suspect but that they were confident the killer would be caught.
DS Ferguson said the mum was murdered in a “violent attack” but that it was impossible to say if or what kind of weapon may have been used.
She said it was impossible to say if Ms Donaghy knew her killer but detectives were carrying out interviews and reviewing evidence to determine the full circumstances of her death.
“We need to look at Kiesha’s lifestyle; who her friends, associates are and build up a picture around her associations and acitivities on the lead up to her death,” DS Ferguson said.
The small, tight-knit community of Elgin has been shocked by the killing.
Uniformed officers will continue to carry out “reassurance patrols” and police urged anyone with any information to come forward.
Police Scotland can be contacted via 101, quoting reference 3250 of Thursday, November 16, 2023. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
