Murder accused in court after DJ allegedly hit with bin

A man is accused of murdering a DJ who was allegedly struck with a wheelie bin.

Stephen Robbins, 33, is charged with killing Ryan Barrie in Benvie Gardens, Dundee, on March 1.

Prosecutors claim the 39 year-old was initially pushed and punched.

The charge further states Robbins struck Mr Barrie “on the body with a wheelie bin”, causing him to fall and hit his head against a wooden fence.

Mr Barrie is said to have been left so severely injured that he later died.

Robbins appeared via video link from prison for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Lord Matthews adjourned the case until August.
