A motorcyclist has died after colliding with an electric car at a junction in a village in Dundee.

Police were called to the B961, at the junction with Panmure Road, in Monikie, after receiving reports that a black BMW R1150 GS motorcycle collided with a MG5 electric vehicle at around 8.50pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended and the motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one other injuries were reported.

The road was closed to while officers carried out investigations and later reopened at around 3.30am on Wednesday.

Officers have now launched an appeal for anyone with any information to come forward.

Sergeant Kevin Wilkie said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the man who died as a result of this incident.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone with information who has not already contacted police to get in touch.

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have dash-cam footage to contact us.”
