A man has suffered injuries to his leg in an attack, which police believe involved a weapon, in Moray.

The incident happened at 11.40pm on Friday, near Trinity Place in Elgin, during an altercation between two groups.

The 20-year-old was seriously assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment to injuries on his leg and body.

Police sergeant Alex Carle said: “The 20-year-old victim suffered injuries to his leg and body and was treated at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin before later being released. The injury is understood to have been caused by a weapon.

“One of the groups involved were travelling in a grey Audi A3 car. The other group were using a silver Mercedes.

“Both groups are believed to have been in McDonald’s, Linkwood Place, Elgin prior to the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time or who captured the incident on dash cam footage to come forward.”
