A man has been assaulted and robbed in an early morning attack in Dundee.

The victim was walking on a footpath between Larch Street and Blackness Road in the city between 4.25am and 4.45am on Friday, when he was approached by a man, assaulted and had his phone and wallet taken.

Police are now hunting the suspect, who is described as being in his 30s, about 5ft 8in in height with brown hair and some facial hair.

He was wearing a white beanie hat, grey tracksuit bottoms, a white hooded jumper and a black body warmer and left in the direction of Edward Street.

Detective Constable Kieran Bradley said: “Thankfully the man was not injured as a result of this incident.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around this time and who witnessed the incident or saw anyone matching the description above to contact us.

“Additionally I would ask anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us.”
