A man has died following a two-car crash on a major road in Aberdeenshire.
The A92 at Bridge of Muchalls was closed for more than 12 hours following the incident on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency crews shut down the busy dual carriageway shortly after 4.20pm, with paramedics joining officers from Police Scotland on the scene.
A 47-year-old man received treatment but was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
A probe has been launched into the crash, but road police said diversions would be in place “for the foreseeable future” until a full investigation has taken place.
Motorists have been encouraged to avoid the area in the meantime.
A Police Scotland statement read: “A 47-year-old man has died after a two-vehicle crash on the A92 at Bridge of Muchalls near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
“An investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
